Join us for a unique Whitchurch Silk Mill and Newbury Market coach trip. Begin with a visit to Newbury for its bustling market day, where you can browse stalls filled with fresh produce, artisanal goods, and unique crafts. Stroll through Newbury’s charming streets, enjoy local treats, and shop for special items at the market, making it a perfect trip to explore the town’s vibrant atmosphere.

 

In the afternoon we visit Whitchurch Silk Mill, England’s oldest working silk mill, nestled on the banks of the River Test. Here, you’ll discover the fascinating art of traditional silk weaving, view historic machinery in action, and learn about the mill’s role in British textile history. 

Enjoy a guided tour of the waterwheel and the Mill building, with its Victorian machinery that can still be operated. There is also the chance to visit the Shop to purchase silk scarves, ties and giftware made from the Mill’s exclusive silks, along with other irresistible gifts. Plus there is the opportunity to walk round the beautiful gardens on the banks of the River Test. Before we depart, enjoy a Cream or Savoury Tea with tea or coffee (please advise of any dietary requirements).
